After the full Baldur’s Gate saga (of which we reviewed the Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s gate: Siege of Dragonspear, while Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition is still pending review), Beamdog has not that long ago also launched the Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition. Another one of the already Enhanced games also include the Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. Now the company has announced a further addition to their portfolio, the Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.
This game is based upon the Diamond edition with many new features and at least 100 hours of gameplay. It is also the first enhanced game using another engine than Infinity, which is (together with newer Dungeons & Dragons rules – 3rd edition) the greatest difference from the older games (BG, ID, PT). In particular, it uses Aurora engine from Bioware, a fully 3D rendered one, unlike the hybrid Infinity. Check the official list of most important changes:
- Improved Display: Your portrait, combat bar, inventory, and other UI elements adjust in size based on your chosen resolution including 1080p and 4k.
- Advanced Graphics Options: Pixel shaders and post-processing effects make for crisper, cleaner visuals. Enable contrast, vibrance, and depth of field options as preferred.
- Community Endorsed: Original developers have teamed with key members of the Neverwinter Nights community to curate important fan-requested improvements to support players, storytellers, and modders.
- Backwards Compatibility: Works with save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. A galaxy of community created content awaits.
The Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, launching at usual price of 19.99 USD, will also be available with Digital Deluxe bundle, which includes the Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons, Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, two soundtracks collecting all of the original music and a new portrait pack too. Beamdog is officialy launching the game in just under 14 hours, on November 21st 2017, 12:00 PM PST, with a Twitch livestream. Since than, also the official website will launch at http://nwn.beamdog.com.
