Silverstone officially introduces Strider Titanium series

The Taiwanese Silverstone has officially introduced the new Strider Titanium family to the market. This new series bearing 80 PLUS Titanium certification has already been showcased at the Computex show last year. But only now it is being finally introduced to the market. They should come next Monday (February 22nd). There will be three models available initially: 600W SST-ST60F-TI, 700W SST-ST70F-TI and 800W SST-ST80F-TI. They all offer 50 W more as “peak” power, all feature single +12V rail and are made by Sirtec, as we are used to.

To my knowledge, Silverstone is second after Super Flower to actually have Titanium units in retail. However, as for Super Flower, it almost seems like their units were more for marketing. After few months and many reviews, they are almost nowhere to be bought, even in Europe. And since it is very premium product, but the cheaper Leadex Platinum and Gold units are almost the same, it would make some sense. But there can be just a simple explanation – SF is not able to cope with the demand.

Anyway, there are many more Titanium units scheduled for availability this year so Silverstone obviously strived to get the Strider Titanium series on the market first. And there are more firsts here: so far, their 600W model is the least powerful unit with such efficiency available in retail. And the 800W version again moves the border of how much power you can squeeze into standard, 150mm long ATX PSU enclosure: With the SST-ST80F-TI Silverstone reached power density of 413 W per liter. All the units feature 120mm fan with maximum speed reaching 960 RPM under full load.

All of the Strider Titanium units are fully modular and Silverstone claims they feature 100% quality (Japanese) capacitors. They should also be able to operate 24/7 at 40 °C ambient. What is very bad in my opinion is the tragic warranty period of only three years. Competitors are already moving from 7 to 10 years with units of similar tier. The RSP is 147 €, 162,5 € and 178 € (in Europe) without VAT. We are in contact with Silverstone, first samples should be available soon.
