The Crusade grand finale
Here it comes. Some interesting story plot twists here! You speak to people and learn that in face everyone had there own seperate agendas after all. Caelar went to hell not so much to save thousands of souls, but rather only the soul of her uncle. And her own too when you think about it. When she was still young, and due in part to her arrogance, she started messing with some pretty serious magic books. She accidentally transported herself to Avernus. Her uncle switched places with her to free her while the local boss Belhifet decided to keep his soul and to torture him eternally. So he was the one that she wanted to free above all others…
Hephernaan himself was only Belhifet’s demon servant whose task was to use Caelar to open the portal again. Of course bringing her soul (and thousands of others) to hell too was also a nice bonus. And as another bonus he also brought you. Great! Well, here you finally join forces with Caelar. Slaying Hephernaan in his demonic appearance is quite easy.
But Belhifet is another story. Fortunately, Calear herself is quite buffed, but you still have to support her. Watch for the fire storms he casts as well as the paralyzing spells. It is best to get him from a distance using +3 missiles. Sooner or later you will finally slay him. Then Caelar finally realizes how foolish she was and stays in Hell to close the portal.
Hooorah! Well, that’s not the grand finish though.
That man’s right: time to celebrate!
The bitter ending
But something goes terribly wrong. The Hooded Man has his hands in it of course! He makes you kill Skie Silvershile, daughter of grand duke Silvershield, to serve his own dirty schemes. So after leaving Baldur’s Gate as a hero, you return as a scourge. Only because of consideration taken for your previous noble actions, instead of losing your head, you’re silently banished from the city. Imoen, who has been studying wizardry in the meantime, finally joins you. Also Jaheira, Khalid and Minsc join you later outside the city. While you are fleeing your nightmare, you are all ambushed and kidnapped… …the end.
