Yeah. More proper FDB fans based on the Panasonic design on the market would be nice, as would some sort of requirement to state exactly which type of bearing is actually being used.
The thing is, though, that even traditional sleeve bearing fans usually last many years if they are given a good amount of oil (not grease) in the bearing, especially in quiet 80mm or larger case fans where they don't run at 3000RPM+ all the time. The biggest problem with them is insufficient lubrication from the factory. You'll notice in PSU reviews that I only knock points off for sleeve bearing fans if I'm not happy with the lubrication.
