Is DDR2 still Suitable for new Builds?

Being that ddr3 has been on the market for years now. Do, you think you could still have a top-end gaming machine built /w DDR2 and it would be just as speedy as one with DDR3? ( If they both had the same specs on all the other hardware ).

I think DDR2 is still good for a budget gaming machine. Not top-end, because any motherboard/CPU combo that uses DDR2 wouldn't be the newest tech, but still OK for a mid-range to budget gamer.

Yeah. agreed. It's not as fast as DDR3, but for a budget gaming system, it may be OK.

DDR3 is a lot cheaper than DDR2. (a kingston DDR3 1333 4G RAM is about ￥130 whereas a Kingston DDR2 800 2G is about ￥150) I won't use DDR2 for new builds anyway.

Around here, DDR2 and 3 are about the same price.
