Defragmenting an SSD

I have a 32GB SSD in my laptop. My file fragmentations is at 43%, which is pretty bad, (at least I think it is).
I want to defrag it but I've heard lots of things, ranging from "It won't do anythigng" to "it will make your SSD blow up"...
Any advice?

NEVER under any circumstances defrag an SSD. It wears them out quicker amd they actually work better with the files fragmented since, unlike a
mechanical HDD, they can read in several places at a time. In windows 7, if it detects that you have an SSD, it actually disables defragging.

Why is it fragmented? do not touch a ssd with a defragmentation program. Is trim enabled?

It is windows xp on. a transcend 32gb ide ssd...trim isnt supported!

Oh, right. If only I still had my Toshiba Portege M300. I had an aftermarket battery which stuck out the back a bit for it. It lasted about 10 hours on a mechanical HDD. It would have been nice to see what it would have done with an SSD (12 hours maybe?).
