Flash Drive and Security

Ive already lost my flashdrive that I bought like 2-3 months ago. It really pisses me off. I guess its a good thing that I did not put in sensitive data on it and just papers and powerpoints. I really need to put a password on my next flashdrive. So, how do you prevent yourself from losing your flashdrive and possible sensitive data?

I have some important client data on mine so it would suck if I lost it
But I just try not to lose it...
