Backronyms and puns

Postby LongRunner » September 6th, 2013, 3:06 am

BHP (measurement): Be Honest, Please (as it can mean either British Horse Power or Brake Horse Power)
CFL (retrofits): Crappy Fluorescent Lamp or (especially in the USA) Catastrophic Failure Lamp
New (technology): Never ever works (at least on the "consumer" level)
RoHS: Reliability often Hampered Seriously or (you're gonna love this one) Reduction of Health & Safety (in light of how next year medical electronics will have to comply, and so will automotive electronics after 3 years)
Alldatasheet: Nodatasheet
Photobucket: Photofuckit

Electrolytic capacitors:
Elite: Extremely lousy incredibly terrible electrolytics
Gemcon: Garbage, exploded mess. Capacitor or not?
I.Q: Inferior Quality
Jun Fu: Just unreliable, normally fucked up
Sacon: Super awful capacitors open noisily (especially the FZ series)
Teapo: Terrible electrolytics that always pop open
Information is far more fragile than the HDDs it's stored on. Being an afterthought is no excuse for a bad product.

My PC: Core i3 4130 on GA‑H87M‑D3H with GT640 OC 2GiB and 2 * 8GiB Kingston HyperX 1600MHz, Kingston SA400S37120G and WD3003FZEX‑00Z4SA0, Pioneer BDR‑209DBKS and Optiarc AD‑7200S, Seasonic G‑360, Chenbro PC31031, Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.3.

Ford may "suck" in Australia but not here. My 96 F150 is still using the stock clutch at 220,000KM which is impressive considering it used to tow, and I get good mileage in a big sized motor. My 94 Explorer was still using the stock motor and tranny when I sold it with 365,000KM on it. Don't hate :D All you have to do is take care of them.

My grandfather's 89 Falcon had just about everything go wrong with it that could possibly go wrong - including some fairly expensive things to fix like the Gearbox and Diff. That didn't leave me with a good impression of them.
