What you're waiting for

Well, I want:
  • A fair world, first and foremost.
  • Technology that doesn't cost the Earth to manufacture (I dunno if it will ever really happen, though).
  • For manufacturers to stop using Y1 capacitors in "double-insulated" switching supplies (they're lethal to signal circuits — and, should they manage to fail shorted, the user too — although, to be honest, it's probably nigh-impossible to make a SMPS that can truly be considered double-insulated, as so long as a single PCB has both primary and secondary circuitry on it, some risk of a tin whisker crossing the isolation barrier remains).
  • No more bundled power cords or comparably long-lived accessories.
  • For quality to get the attention it deserves.
  • The end of smoking.
  • The death of Phillips (and slotted) screws.
I could go on…

Personally, I'd prefer if all switching supplies were earthed, but unearthed mains outlets remain in use in some areas, so you can't win.
