I have tried to figure out what the T speeds are vs. standard DSL Mbits, but I'm getting that businesses go for the T-whatever speeds and pay a lot more...but what is the difference between that and some cheap "Home" DSL?

T1 = 1.5mbps, T3 = 44mbps

oh...so there is no difference between 1.5Mbps DSL and a T1?

From what I hear, a T1 line is supposed to be the equivalent of about 26 DSL lines not in terms of speed, but in terms of capacity to transmit data at that speed. A T3 line is supposed to have the capacity of about 26 T1 lines, or about 700 DSL lines.

I looked it up about 9 months ago, so that's what I remember reading anyways. Virginia Tech has a T3 line as their primary internet service and it is blazing fast.

Apparently, the T1 and T3 lines are supposed to allow for more users at a certain speed, not to increase the speed. Verify that information before you quote me on it though.

so its like a water pipe. t1 is a pipe with a larger diameter, but the pump is still only 1.5mbps...?
