Isn't Panasonic FR overkill to replace SamXon GF with??? Or was it just the only thing you could get with the required case sizes???

As far as I know, the closest Japanese equivalent to SamXon GF is Chemi-con KYA, but I realise that it may be hard to find.

I remember reading of problems with SamXon GK (equivalent to Chemi-con KZE, Rubycon ZL and Nichicon HD) and also of quite a few SamXon GD (equivalent to Nichicon HM, Rubycon MBZ, and Panasonic FJ) failures, so I'm wondering if they're really as good as they were claimed to be...

Yup. I can't find anything else with 1500uF 6.3V in 8mm diameter. Besides, it's the 5vsb. It doesn't matter there.

Hard to say. They're a Chinese brand, so I've never had as much confidence in them as I have with the Jap brands. I've used the 3300uF 10mm diameter RS series when nothing else fits, but that's about the only time I use them

That fan only spins up to 2500RPM and only moves up to ~26CFM, so you can't blame it for being loud under load given the responsive fan controller, especially with how hot the exhaust temperature was. :P

That and there's a grille right in front of it.

Not a bad unit for a TFX PSU.
Edit: Gonna look at these errors.

fixed by Adding & ~E_STRICT to the error_reporting() line (~22) in /includes/startup.php
I guess PhpBB doesn't like PHP5.4...
