Innards of Corsair GS800 power supply. I personally don't like these plate heatsinks. My concern is that they might be not as efficient as these beefy heatsinks that have fins on them in term of heat dissipation. Thus the manufacturer has to increase the fan speed so as to keep the psu staying cool, which will end up increasing the fan noise as well. OEM is CWT and the unit is based on CWT's PSHII platform.

Yeah, as another thread on CPSRF suggested, Corsair are being bad. And I don't like a bit of their new CX series (430/500/600) and GS series.

As I explained in a thread I made on CPSRF. This is not a CWT despite the fact that it has green tape on its coils and transformers. The real manufacturer is a company called UT. And the general layout of this PSU looks A LOT like CWT's DSA platform. Pccooler uses entirely Teapo caps on the secondary side.

You can tell its not a Channel Well because it doesn't have the "CWT Viking" markings on the transformers.

You can tell it's a FSP because it has SPI marking on its main transformer.


The output filtering of this unit is consists of Teapos, CapXon and OSTs. Primary capacitor is a Capxon rated for 270μF, 420V at 85℃.

Seasonic SS-350ES is a 350W power supply with 80plus bronzer certified. It's equiped with an ADDA 80mm double ball bearing fan and the housing is plainted in plain color (not sure if it make sense to you). Nothing special. It has four SATA connectors and four molex connectors. The ATX12V and 24pin cables are way too short as they are only 36cm long. And the lack of PCI-E 6pin/6+2pin cables is a drawback.

The following pictures are what you should see if you open the PSU. It's good to see that Seasonic didn't skimp on either MOV or NTC. And this unit has a decent EMI filtering. Main capacitor is a 220μF Rubycon rated at 85℃ and the output filtering is done by some OST, Teapo and Su`scon caps. Overall it's a cheap psu aiming to those who just want something that works. MSRP for this unit in China is ￥315, approximately $48.
