I doubt that he knows about PSU as much as you do, though. :D

Is that an 80+ titanium unit? It's gonna have to be for those "heat sinks" to work :D
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards! :D

:D It isn't 80Plus certified because it can't output 500W under 115V input voltage. :D The rectifier bridge used in the unit is rated at 4A 800V. Theoretically, it could output 4A @50C if it were attached to a heat sink.

Not surprising. :P They did something worse years ago. The ripple on +12V rain of the Acbel IP470+ (420W) hit over 500mV when Zhuoke tried to pull 450W from the power supply. That's more than 4 times of intel's maximum allowance.:D

Ouch! I usually only see server and workstation gear from AcBel, so I had always considered them to be high end like seasonic and delta, but maybe they can be more like FSP.

True. Acbel is more like FSP. They have some outstanding products as well as something really crappy.

Thermaltake joins the 80Plus platinum campaign with its Toughpower XT Platnium 1275W PSU. This unit looks sturdy. I'm not sure which company makes it. I guess it's CWT though. :P It adopts the full bridge LLC resonance and interleaved PFC design.

It is indeed a Channel Well. The green transformers and plate heatsinks give it away. TBH, the finless heat sinks don't worry me too much on an 80plus platinum PSU, since it won't be generating much heat. I think this is only the second time I've seen a full bridge based power supply, it usually only gets used in high end and server and industrial grade units rated for 1kW or higher.
