I was wondering why my internet is so slow...I'm supposed to have a 6mbps plan, not a 4mbps plan...

What you get isn't always up to par with what's promised. I'm supposed to have a 768 kbps plan.

right, i get that. but:
i used to get like 5mbps speedtest and the modem said 6000-something kbps...

Well, last week I called them and scheduled somebody to come out to the house to take a look at it.
first, he came inside and almost died when he saw my torn-apart and taped together modem LOL...anyway, he cut back some excess cable on the pole to boost the signal strength, and did some re-routing at the control box down the road.

He also gave me a brand new modem/wireless router combo device for fre, because my old one (while only being one version older) was messed up a bit-(and i didn't even mention it was my birthday)...

He was nice and knowledgable, and I'm really quite happy with AT&T's services.
I think I'm going to put off changing ISPs for now.

I'm getting 2.98 Mbps but i think Im ment to get 4 or 5 Mbps

Well, depending on your Isp that might be normal

That's unlucky, you should contact your ISP and see what they say. It might just be that the speed offered isn't available in your area.
