I was recently contacted by the American company Azza Technologies who offered me an opportunity to look at their latest enclosure series, the Taurus 5000. I agreed and subsequently acquired the Taurus 5000B black version (there is also a white 5000W). Both are full-tower models with a side panel window, which comes backlit with RGB LEDs . At the moment I can only find them available at Newegg for 95 US dollars after rebate, which is quite a nice price. Though they only come with a basic 1 year warranty.
The Taurus 5000 cases come with five pre-installed 120mm fans, but there are positions for two more (One on top, and one on the bottom). You can also opt to install two 140mm fans in the top position instead, or perhaps some water cooling radiator setup if you like. They offer eight internal 2.5″/3.5″ drive bays in two cages which are both removable, as well as three 5.25″ external bays, which are hidden behind a door. The installation of hard drives is tool-less thanks to plastic caddies, which also have holes for mounting either 80mm or 90mm fans to them. There are dust filters for both the bottom fan and PSU position, which can be easily removed and cleaned. There’s also a filter mounted to the front panel, but removing that one is somewhat more difficult.
Other notable features include two USB 2.0 and two 3.0 ports, plus audio headers on the top-front panel. They come with rubber sealing gaskets which offers protection from dust. The front and upper panel are plastic and rather glossy. The case itself is steel, and while the thickness of the material is not given, it’s notable that the case is rather heavy at 10.2 kg. So it is quite probable that the steel is of the thicker variety and I can also confirm that the case is quite sturdy. While there are no exciting features, the ones the Taurus 5000 series does offer look fine for its price. Stay tuned for the full review!
