In the review of the Azza Taurus 5000B enclosure made by Linkworld I stated that I got a power supply unit sample with the case. It is the Linkworld LPW1685-70 which is an 80 PLUS Bronze certified unit (@115 V) with 13.5cm cooling fan. Note the ancient test date (5/21/2008), after some digging I found that it is based upon Andyson AD-Mx00A2-71 platform. This platform is already discontinued so while it is not confirmed at the moment, I believe Linkworld has licensed it and is manufacturing it in their own fab.
I got the Linkworld LPW1685-70 as brand new but since I’ve had it for a while, it appeared in Poland in the meantime starting at 200 PLN. That is very cheap, converted to CZK it is way less than 2 CZK a watt so we are definitely in low-end segment. Yet for that it does not seem so terrible, based on (finally) up-to-date two-transistor forward topology. Is this a Linkworld Next Generation model? It may very well be! The warranty coverage is only 2-year though, but I am not aware of any unit in this segment with a longer one.
According to the label it has two +12V rails with 29 A each or 53 A combined. The +3.3 and +5V rails should deliver 20 A or 130 W combined, though I am not sure if such labeling is wise. Many units with such high rated power have enormous problems delivering 20 A on both rails and keeping voltage in spec. The −12V rail offers an unusual 0.4A rating while the stand-by supply delivers 2.5 A. Well, we’ll have to wait and see how things work out for this unit.
