As we have stated at the end of every one of these roundups, the test results from these power supplies go to show that trying to save a few dollars by using a cheap generic unit is a very bad idea. At best, you get a product which fails well below its labelled rating, and has mediocre performance, and at worst, you get a real piece of junk which can’t deliver anything in spec. If you really need something cheap, just get yourself an In Win Power Man. With some retailers now selling the IP-S400CQ2-0 for as little as $35, it remains our recommendation if you need a lower powered unit on a budget.
As usual, we have a video of the fireworks displays below. Note that the first two power supplies (the Bliss and Powercase) were tested using my old load tester, before it failed, while the others with the new one. Notice how much quieter the new tester is.
