The Elementum E1 SI-350 (SPC124) or also “Elementum E1 SI 85+ ATX 350W” (why so many names?) is probably the cheapest unit from SilentiumPC. It can be bought for less than 700 CZK (121 PLN in Poland) which clearly positions it at the low-end. This unit is made by Channel Well Technology. Though the availability is pretty limited even in Europe, we can use this opportunity to look at the CWT’s GPA platform.
Upon first look the SPC124 is on a different level than all the other low-end units we have seen so far. It is no old half-bridge garbage, but a two-transistor forward platform with active PFC. For cost reasons it has no efficiency certification, but it should cope with 80 PLUS Bronze. Or, being 200-240V input, 80 PLUS 230V EU. The unit even has 6-pin PCIe connector.
The SPC124 is equipped with a single +12 V rail rated at 28 A. The other rails offer pretty much the usual stuff. It has temperature controlled 12cm fan. Will this be the first low-end unit to pass the testing?
