I have revised it, since a lot has changed since I originally reviewed it.

I thought you hated ADDA, c_hegge. :P

That ADDA won't last long because it's mounted horizontally and mounting sleeve bearing fans horizontally badly curtails their lifespan. It otherwise seems like a decent PSU. I noticed that those two 20A rectifiers can take up to 175 (or 150?)C operating temperature wise (it says that on the datasheet despite specifying ambient temperature as 25C) so I think you could get 40A with both of them at 230V, even in forward topology. Of course, given that all PSUs are totally RoHS compliant now adays, you could contest that limit is closer to 60C, but my stance remains. What is that PSU's bridge rectifier rated at?

I don't really like ADDA, and that was part of the reason it didn't get a better award. To be fair, though, These PSUs are very popular as budget ones around where I live, and I seldom see them with bad fans.

You are right. I have fixed that. I think what got me was that Diodes Inc specified the ambient temperature, which is something very few manufacturers do. Most specify the rating at a given case or junction temperature.

The article states 8A.

The review is probably right. I was going by memory with that post, but I had the PSU in front of me when writing the review. Since Wester547 was asking about the rating, I assumed I must have forgotten to put it in the review.

The label states that the power supply has two 12V rails. As we will see later, though, this is not the case. There is really only one 12V rail.

Actually each one has its own ferrite coil and capacitor after it, and there are thin traces leading from there to the supervisor. So it must be taking advantage of the resistance of the coil windings to sense the current...
Information is far more fragile than the HDDs it's stored on. Being an afterthought is no excuse for a bad product.

I noticed that, but the controller doesn't support OCP, so this is still a single rail.
