Power-on counter: FAIL on Fujitsu MPE3064AT

I just got this drive. (Fujitsu drives count runtime in seconds. Currently at 165,356,653 seconds (45,932 hours 24 minutes 13 seconds). Current normalised value of 1 (the lowest possible), threshold 20. No bad sectors. 884 write errors (this bothers me the most). In case you're wondering, 4,262 start/stop cycles.) How concerned would you be about the bearings failing??? It is very noisy - not surprisingly.

Depends on the type of bearings. Some older HDDs used ball bearings (a bit like fans), as opposed to Fluid Dynamic bearings. Bearing noise on those drives was very common. If it's the noise I'm thinking of (a bit like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow3vrq3QQw0 ), it wouldn't surprise me if it was noisy like that from day 1. If it's making that noise with FDBs, then you have a problem.

Yes, it's a ball-bearing model.

Another thing - I got an ST32140A at the same time. It makes weird seek noises even when sequentially reading some areas. Surface scan shows no problem. It's too old to have S.M.A.R.T..

Do you mean knocking sounds when seeking? That's not a good sign. At least it's only 2GB. It's not like you can lose that much data on it

I can't imagine back up of the drive being particularly hard - a $10 flash drive would do!
